{"id":18257,"date":"2021-01-31T04:24:45","date_gmt":"2021-01-31T03:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ophtalmo-bw.be\/?page_id=18257"},"modified":"2026-03-19T12:14:55","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T11:14:55","slug":"les-techniques-implantaires","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ophtalmo-bw.be\/en\/les-techniques-implantaires\/","title":{"rendered":"Implant techniques"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"translation-block\">Phakic implants, such as <strong>ICL<\/strong> and <strong>IPCL<\/strong>, are intraocular lenses specifically designed to correct high myopia, particularly beyond \u201310 diopters.<br>Unlike laser procedures, this technique <strong>preserves the natural crystalline lens<\/strong>: the implant is inserted into the eye without removing any tissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A very common implant, positioned behind the iris<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent vision quality, reversibility of the procedure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No impact on the cornea<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, it requires intraocular surgery and regular follow-up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IPCL (Implantable Posterior Chamber Lens)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A more recent implant, using various materials (acrylic, silicone)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Very good long-term stability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower risk of induced astigmatism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Same type of surgery and precautions as the ICL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Both techniques offer a reliable and precise solution for patients whose myopia exceeds the limits of laser treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Multifocal implants: complete correction of presbyopia<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Multifocal implants<\/strong> are today considered the method offering the best results for correcting presbyopia.<br>They require replacing the crystalline lens, as in cataract surgery, with a major advantage:<br>\u27a1\ufe0f <strong>a single procedure for life, with no future risk of cataract<\/strong>, since the aging lens is replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Each implant is custom-calculated preoperatively, based on the eye\u2019s optical and anatomical characteristics.<br>Premium multifocal implants allow simultaneous correction of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>myopia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hyperopia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>astigmatism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>presbyopia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">They provide <strong>distance and near vision without glasses<\/strong>, turning lens surgery into a true <strong>refractive surgery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Patient safety and information<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Like any intraocular procedure, these techniques present risks comparable to those of cataract surgery.
